Having fun with a dragon

Needle felted dragon
It was great fun to create this dragon, even though it took me many hours to finish it, with all the triangular shapes on its back and tale. The core wool is a coarser white wool then covered whit a blend from many greens merino wool. The dragon is about 30cm long and 10cm tall. It is a friendly dragon and actually quite funny :-) No reason to be scared!

...and from the side
This dragon has already found a new home and friend, who's happy to look after it, feed it etc. and maybe even writing about its future adventures.......

Events, exhibitions, felt workshops and more...past and future

After a fabulous Winter fair at GalGael, about 10 days ago, I've been in Edinburgh for a day. I was asked to decorate two windows for the Restaurant Henderson's Of Edinburgh.with my needle felted goodies. I very much enjoyed doing it!  A dear friend looked from outside of the restaurant, while I was decorating being inside. That was very helpful. Here you see the result. It's a little magical!

A couple of photos from today's needle felt workshop in Edinburgh. Four talented women created angels and fairies, and one of them created a Mary for a nativity scene. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and everyone of the participants seemed to leave happy and grateful for improving their needle felting skills. More workshops in Edinburgh will follow next year.

A fantastic day at GalGael's Spring Fair

My stall at the Spring Fair with lots of felted goodies.
What a fantastic day at GalGael with many lovely visitors and a warm and welcoming atmosphere! There were stalls with hand made wood work, hand created jewellery, winter hard plants, home made tablet and other sweets, beautiful photographs, wood carving demonstrations, boat building demonstrations, activities for kids, a raffle and much more.
It seamed that everybody had fun and enjoyed the day! Not to forget the delicious food and especially the yummy home baking! I saw many happy faces that day.

Spinning is always what kids and adults like to observe.

Good fun at today's needle felt workshop

When I prepared the room for today's needle felt workshop I felt already excited. I very much enjoy to share my love for felting with others. To inspire the participants, this little robin was sitting in a display with a couple of other needle felted items, related to this time of year: Imbolc - the promise of Spring.

What a great fun we had! Everybody had already well established experience in different kinds of craft. Even though half of the participant group were needle felt beginners, they picked up the main principles very quickly and got creative with the colourful wool fibres.

Everybody, the needle felt beginners and the already experienced felters, who took part in previous workshops and have developed there own individual style in needle felting was happily needling along. The noise of needles, poking in the wool and the underlying sponge was filling the room: s s s s s s s s
There was a lot of chatting, of laughter and sharing stories and experience in craft making. A cup of tea and biscuits were enjoyed while the felting went on.
After 3 hours a bunch of happy women left my house: A new skill had been learned or the expertise in felt making had been improved.
What a fantastic morning!

A mermaid and a water landscape

Needle felted mermaid
After spending several hours to create this needle felted mermaid, I eventually finished her on the Felt United day Saturday, 5th of October.I really enjoyed the process of creating this water woman from fluffy sheep's wool!

One of the participants of the felt workshop on Felt United day had felted a water landscape and brought it to the workshop to then finish the landscape adding needle felted features to it.
