“In the magical natural realm” Needle felt workshop for adults on Tuesday, the 17th of June 2014, 7-9pm

 

In this workshop you can learn needle felting using colourful sheep's wool. It’s fun and rewarding! We will relate to Nature, creating fairies, or gnomes, leaves, flowers, butterflies, fruits, or whatever inspires you. No previous experience requested.

In this workshop for beginners and intermediate you will:
 
   
● learn to needle felt, using a specific felt needle and sheep’s wool.
● experiment with colours and design
● take home an unique piece of handmade felt.

At the end of the workshop you will take home your own felted item and have learned a new skill.

A fantastic day at GalGael's Spring Fair

My stall at the Spring Fair with lots of felted goodies.
What a fantastic day at GalGael with many lovely visitors and a warm and welcoming atmosphere! There were stalls with hand made wood work, hand created jewellery, winter hard plants, home made tablet and other sweets, beautiful photographs, wood carving demonstrations, boat building demonstrations, activities for kids, a raffle and much more.
It seamed that everybody had fun and enjoyed the day! Not to forget the delicious food and especially the yummy home baking! I saw many happy faces that day. 

Spinning is always what kids and adults like to observe.

I'll run a stall with my felted beauties and the chance for you to have a go at needle felting.

A needle felted crystal dwarf

Yesterday I spend a couple of hours being creative with needle felting. The outcome was a little crystal dwarf, who is looking a little bit surprised or curious. I had started to needle felt the body a little while ago. This time it took me some time before I knew what kind of nature being he will become. A dwarf, a gnome or even a troll? I looked through my growing range of coloured fluffy sheep's wool. The bright blue caught my awareness and I thought what character what nature being could have this blue as clothes. As a friend of crystals and crystal healer I realized the closeness of this particular bright blue to the colour of the blue lace achate. So, it was clear then, the character of  a blue lace achate dwarf will take shape. When I create a dwarf or a gnome, I am usually in silence, completely absorbed in my work, which I love. The little being then develops its very special character, and takes on its own life.

Two felt workshops for the "Journey on" participants in GalGael

I know GalGael in Glasgow-Ibrox for 6 years and I love this place! Here people are trained in traditional crafts, boats are built and an open hearted community is created over many years. 
I am a wool craft volunteer in GalGael, joining the clan on most Thursday late afternoons till late.
In February and March I facilitated 2 felt workshops on Fridays for participants of the "JOURNEY ON" program. 
It was good fun and everybody went home with a mostly colourful self made item from felted wool. 
During the first workshop the participants learned about the basics of wet felting and applied it. They created a firmly felted solid ball or stone shaped item and a flat felt from colourful fluffy sheep's wool.

In the second felt workshop those, who had learned and applied the basic wet felt skills in the first workshop went on learning how to felt a seamless felted pouch.

Good fun to make the pouches firm and strong by banging them on the table. Yes, that helps!
